Hi All
I have been working in a IT firm having 1 month notice period from last 3 years. I got a offer letter from another company and new company wants me to join in a week. I consulted my current manager and my notice period can be reduced to 20 days. I informed new company but they wanted me to join in a week. I don't know much about the new company, is there any doubt why they are in a hurry. If they really want then can't they wait for 20 days. Also i have developed a good relationship with my current company as I have been working here for last 3 years, so I can't betray them. Please suggest me what should i do now asap?
Thanks

Many people after accepting do not join - and this leads to situations and practices such as these.
If you are sincere about joining the next company you have to convince them of your intentions. Have a frank chat with them and tell them you'd like to leave properly and ethically, just as they'd prefer if some years later you leave them for better opportunities. You can tell them once you have clarity on this aspect you can share with them your duly accepted resignation letter from the present company clearly indicating the day you will be relieved. Any Company should appreciate and encourage proper behavior.
It is always better to leave any company on a good note, properly and cordially if possible. More so if they have been good to you and you have worked there for a long time.
