I am a Law Faculty Registrar. Most of the academic staff are more interested in looking for cases in the law court than in spending time with the students. I need to organise a motivation workshop for the academic staff to ginger them to put in their maximum effort for the success of the students.
Plese seniors and colleagues out there, kindly give me some information on this. Urgently needed, please,

Dear Syboriba,

Are you from India or from some other country?

If the faculties are more interested in looking for the cases in the law court then nothing wrong as such. They need to have exposure of actual live session. Faculty in management school or Engg college hardly visits any company. Whenever, I spoke with management faculties, I found them in their own world or were out of sync with the current industry trends. In contrast, your case is different then why not to use it to your advantage?

Let them visit the courts however, give them target that each faculty must create one case study per month or quarter. Case studies may be devised by group of faculties also. This case study should be related to some act or law. This case study could be in the form of written document or presentation. When faculties give presentation, take their video shooting. Preserve the videos for the future sessions. Secondly, make sure that these case studies are intellectual properties of your law school. Distribution of the case study out of law school is prohibited. Nevertheless, faculties will have their name in the case study.

If it suits you, then tell the faculties to take the law students to the court also. Let the students take notes on the live sessions of the court. Later faculty can organise the follow up meeting on the visit.

In addition to the case studies, the faculties may create snippets on how to behave in the court, psychology of the judges, where the lawyers go wrong etc.

Through case studies, your law school will generate knowledge assets. May you know that the knowledge assets never depreciate. If you ban their visits to the courts, they may get demotivated further. Give award to the faculty for the best case study of the year. The faculty who does not create any case study, his/her marks may be deducted in the annual performance appraisal.

Please brainstorm on the above point with the management personnel. Hope this idea will work well.

All the best!
