I am new to the corporate world. Recently I set up a office in India for a IT company. The timings were M - F (8 hours) and Saturday (4 hours), Sunday - holiday.
I am aware that most of the large companies give the weekends off. But the norm in the city I stay is to have Saturday as full day (8 hours). As I have found some of my clients requesting for office timings on Saturday afternoon as that is the time they are free to have discussions, I would like to know if I can change the office timings on Saturday (from half day to full day)
Currently I have 3 employees and all are on probation. So when I make them permanent (in a month), can I let them know about this change and give a new job letter.
Please let me know
Thanks in advance.

Well Ms. Jeniffer i do not know about your companies leave policy, holiday policy as well as other policies and norms made and maintained by top management,

:- First thing i would like to say that it is not as good point that on few clients request or on their convenience company should edit/update or change its working days or timings to help the out .

:-If those clients are really very much valuable to the company and company is not willing to refuse their request you may accordingly schedule your employees,

:- As only 3 employees you have this time hence on you can go for 2nd shift clearing that as per companies norms and to keep your clients words.

:-If possible you may also shift your employees working on Saturdays as if any one employee agrees to work in first half on saturday he may work alone , later on in next second half rest 2 employees can stay for next four hours, by this in few weeks you will know exactly making such kind of shift work is fruit full for you or not.

it may be applied as on trials too.

And if company is wiling to make a mandatory policy to work on Saturday ( 2nd half) then you have to make it clear to your employees before completion of their probation period, if they will be quite sincere and be willing to continue with company will agree with companies policy.

But as a manager you have to brief the things , points in very transparent manner, as various companies in India as well as in abroad follow such working schedules to serve their clients.

Best wishes .. soon you will sort out i am assure.
