Normally the factors that are taken into consideration to determine quantum of increments are the value added by an employee to the business, his performance, value of the employee i.e whether star performer or an average performer, the nature of your industry, the size of your organisation and the prevailing norms for increment in the market and above all how deep are the pockets of your organisation.If you want retain a star performer, you need to compete with the market that governs industry of your size.All these factors are variable and it is difficult to arrive at a uniform percentage of increment for all employees.You need to undertake some research at your level.However other views that can throw some light on the subject can be awaited.
