As far as i know it is paid on gross salary but then in case there is shortfall of notice where the employer has to recover the amout from the employee he does recover from the basic salary only.
And the same thing happens for encashment of leave which is also done on basic salary.
so if in case of 30 days of notice period the employe serves just 8 days n have 22 PL LEFT THEN THOSE pl GET ADJUSTED WITH THE REMAINIL NOTICE DAYS I.E 22 days & if he have just 12 leaves then the reamiang 10 days is recovered from the employee from the basic salary not the gross.
So the eg cited by one of the member i guess..........10,000gross inclusive of all CTC components will be given to the employee but on the other side for the remaining 15days not served the amont will be detected from the basic part not the gross so it will not be 10,000 that the employee will owe to but Basic/30*shortfall of notice days .

Hi
I am sorry if I am diverting anyones concentration but hereagain I
wish to ask what if the employee doesnot join duty after resignation and
tries to avail the medical leaves during notice period.Then what will be the deduction?
