Dear Sam,

After Higher Secondary Education through direct schooling, it is really wonderful that you have done your U.G in Business Administration and professional Post-Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations in distant mode. All these are very difficult subjects and mostly you would have studied them in english medium. Then, certainly English can not be a difficulty to you. The only disappointment in distant mode of education is that perhaps you miss beautiful lectures given by eminent professors and their extempore interaction on the subjects with the students. That will not be a handicap in your spoken language skills. I've seen many wonderful conversationists in English doing very poor in written English. First, throw away the artificial shroud you are wrapping around you that you lack fluency in English. English is after a language like any other. You are at Coimbatore, a multi-lingual industrial center. Have you ever felt for not being able to speak Telugu or Malayalam fluently? It is really a myth that fluency in English either written or spoken or both is the index of one's knowlege or professional excellence. Basically, people having academic qualfications acquired through distant mode of education develop an inferiority complex that they can not compete with their peers from regular colleges. It compels them adopt an insecure feeling and make them feel that the interviewers are super-human beings determined to fail them. So, in their anxiety, they lose their mental equanimity, become half-listeners and start mumbling. In any interview, fluency of language does not mean simply the speed of spoken words. It refers to the immediacy of your appropriate response expressed through simple words in a convincing manner to the questions asked - that's all. Always, our reponse to any situation is controlled by our thinking process. In a situation affecting us, our immediate and basic response is feeling. Then we start thinking. If the feeling is a pleasant one, all the relevant and positive things embedded in our mind through our education or experience automatically get associated with our thinking and the expression of the thoughts so developed becomes clear and fluent in words. Improve your pronunciation by watching panel discussions, spoken English programmes telecast in You-Tube. And more important that if you have to speak in English, start originally thinking in English and not in mother-tongue and translating.

Hi Sam,
I would suggest that you enroll yourself in any communication development program. I have known a lot of people who cannot put forward right English and have still ended up in a job in big corporates. You just need to be confident enough and express yourself correctly. There should be a lot of spoken English courses or classes in Coimbatore. Feel free to take one.

Start "thinking " in English -that is an excellent suggestion there. Also suggest " immersion " - read, listen, see English - whatever interests you For eg if you like science fiction - which was my case - find such novels and resources. Like fast music - listen to English disco . Like adventure - find some adventure movies. Get a group of similar friends together and do all the talking in English - In short, make English learning fun ! Add along with some basics - grammar and pronunciation.
Plenty such resources - free - on the could also join me @learnangrezi ( Twitter ) ... Just doing that for fun , presently !

Thanking you very much everyone i have noted, i am trying as per your suggestion my ambition want to become a hr manager i think it will happen very soon. Thanks SAM.S
