I saw all this opinion of individual and decide to share my views regarding any external training.
Training is most important in any field. In spite of that in HR field training played vital roll.
1. Theoretical knowledge is necessary. If you have no theoretical knowledge then how can create different creative ideas.?
2. It is the fact without any experience training shall create confusion.
3. Experience & Training in same time will be beneficial.

For my Opinion.
Recruitment is major part of any organisation.Sourcing a right candidate for a right place for a right time.Concentrate in Different types of Profile like IT , NON IT,Manufacturing,Engineering Industry basically for different level.Going to be masterpiece on Recruitment for all the industry & also maintain as per Recruitment policy.There is no end(Different Hierarchy).
And if you search for Generialist profile, so you have to worked on different industry as HR / IR/ Admin.

If you had strong desire to move a head career wise and to become a HR Generalist, First of all try to know the various job responsibilities involved in that position & try to analyze them with your competencies.
You will come to know where you are standing and what are the steps to be taken. Instead of going blindly to some institute and learn the attributes of a job try to figure it out by yourself so that chances of learning will be much more in finding them.
This will help you to figure out what you are and what attributes you required to be in that position.
