My name is ashish from Jaipur. I think I have ended up in a trouble right now. I work for a call centre; 1 year after joining and as per their requirement I went for an overseas training. However before departing for the training they made me sign a bond of 2 years or else paying Rs 2 lakhs ( reducing as ->1 year of completed service Rs 1 lakhs & 1.5 years of completed service Rs 50,000/-). However my job is a typical night shift and after completing a total of 2 years(1 year before & 1 year after singing the bond), I was unable to stand against the unbearable mental and physical trauma of night shifts which actually resulted in severely degraded eye sight and hence with the approval of my manager went on leave without pay for 7 months, however there was no intimation from any official of the company that these 7 months will later be excluded from my remaining bond period. Now, though I have completed 1 yr and 7 months after entering the bond, my company just consider it as 1 year and forcing me to complete another year with them or else threating to initiate legal proceedings. Keeping the entire situation in view please advise that such an extension in bond service period without any intimation about the same at the time of approving leave without pay, stands valid

Dear Ashish,
Since you had availed of LOP on medical grounds, I recommend you obtaining certificate from medical authorities stating that you are unfit to work in night shifts. Give letter of resignation with medical certificate attached. Find out what HR says then come back to us again.
