Dear all Readers/Members,
Greetings to you!
I would request you to share with me the classification of workers under Minimum Wages as i need the same.
To exemplify, a security guard comes under semi skilled labour in delhi but is an unskilled labour in other states, same goes for other category of workers.
I do understand that it varies from state to state but have not found this classification in the minimum wages rules of various states and also on internet
can i request for your valuable feedback on this!
Regards
Rohit

Dear Rohit,

There is no uniformity when it comes to fixing of the minimum wages exclusively for the Security personnel. The Govt. of NCT of Delhi has listed 29 numbers of Scheduled employments under Minimum wages Act,1948 but no separate rates of minimum wages has been fixed for security personnel. However, in the list of Scheduled employments declared by the NCT of Delhi, the categories of Chowkidar, Durban and Watchman have been mentioned to be Un-Skilled workers whereas the Night-Bearer–cum–Chowkidar has been shown in Semi-Skilled category in some of the Scheduled employments.

The Govt. of Haryana vide their original notification No. 3/42/83-3 Lab, dated 23rd March, 2007 published in Haryana Government Gazette (Extraordinary) contained 47 Scheduled employments, where it has been shown the Security Guard (i) without weapon as Semi-Skilled ‘A’ and Security Guard (i) with weapon as Skilled ‘A’. Similarly Security Inspector / Security Officer/Supervisor have been placed in Highly Skilled category.

In view of the above, it is therefore suggested that you may look for minimum wages fixed for your state.
