Has anybody come across a verification process where the HR arranges to visit the home of the employee? Is this true for specific industries like insurance?

Well almost all companies are going through Employee Verification process these days.
A physical visit is a must during this process to confirm the address and other details.

Ms.Anjana various companies from different trades use many types of verification process, some time they give verification work to their authorized and competent verifcation agnecies , yes it is very true before appointment company does such home visit, specially in Life insurance companies this particular trend is being copied very much.

As Bharti AXA is also working on same pattern, if you are interested to knowthe purpose behind home visit is very good and nice step to know about any candidate,few points are checkd in home visit.

Candidate is residing or not on given address details in companies record

Company wants to find out wether candidate has discussed his job related information at home with his/her parents /gaurdians,

To know parents view about this spouse ( candidate) ,

To judge family status.

To see family contribution and involvement with there spouse .

Parents/Family may also asks job descriptions/responsibilities with the officials who came for home verification, it is kind of very transparent verification where company directly interacts with family members/head to know exactly that candidate is serious or not for job.

As from last few years numerous candidates joined Life insurance companies only for time pass or for not having any job that time, as companies invests good amount,time ,assets and money on every recruitment,result was maximum candidates who joined purposely to gain few months of experience,to take be on roll or to get salaries quit their jobs, it happened in all most Life Insurance companies, ratio might be different.

Hence now companies are hiring right candidates rather than hiring series of candidate, home visit is a part of such incidents , and finally it is a good initiative.

Yes, verification of the antecedents of prospective employees is an important step in most large institutions including government departments. Otherwise, you would be recruiting anti-social and other undesirable elements in the company who can play havoc once employed. You would not want the police or armed forces infiltrated with pro-enemy leanings.
Hello everyone;
Please let me know is it possible to do home verification for manufacturing industry because in this attrition rate for low level employees is very high, almost everyday the employees are coming and going out. Till now we are doing verification to call at selected candidate home.

Till time home verification system is followed strictly by MNC's , Home visit is a good and ethical verifcation process to verify candidates base reality.

As such big companies has its branch in every city mostly,

The CTC of such candidates are also high,

This process is mostly used for Junior,Middle or Executive level employees,

Mostly all candidates are local ides , so the verification agency or branch head it self goes easily to verify at home,hence comapany invests minimum amount and time for such verification,

As far as your question concern , if the candidates belong to local area then it may be tried but randomly for start,

As mostly they all belong to low level class the purpose of performing such verification is to know about the atmosphere of home,family involvement with candidate and his/her job,

If you apply such process it may work but the time you will invest in each verification will be a good enough and results will be normal, as such workers are small family owners, mostly they are head of that family, hence results will not be that fine.

According to me this process cant be applied here, it may be applied on junior,middle and high level candidate.


It is necessary the one should visit home during pre-assesment interview to check if the employee is telling the truth about the residence and family members.
This is required if the profile is holding a business critical portfolio and be sure that he will not misuse this position.
