As a HR and as well as an responsible employer i am feeling initially very bad for miss behave and treatment you faced in your company by the fired staff and later on by the employers.
As you were holding a strong position in company but was new to it, same place that girl was quite older in company and must be quite closer to all employees as well as to directors.
What ever situation you described here in it simply says two different things,when employer/consultant is not taking any responsibility to warn/punish her for abusing and misbehaving their good profiled employee( HR) shows ,it is clear that they do not want to make her oppolgise against you , as a new employee they don't think that they should take such strong action to give a message to other employees in company, why they are not interested in punishing her is the real question stands.
And after all scene they terminated you via e mail shows they are not authentic to their profiles as well as not good for employees.
Try to compose a draft indicating all condition,incidents took place in company,write a strict message as an strong professional to them.

It was a biggest fault of career
when i joined your company
What were the loopholes/secrets of company or directors which that girl was aware of.
Why a single director out of 6 did not stand with me when issues came.
Why company was so flexible for a receptionist and allowed her to abuse,misbehave to any one in office including directors.
in spite of warning/firing her out why directors said you to avoid her actions.
why directors were not serious about abuses,misbehave ,
Say them you are shame full for some time for facing such issues due to them but i am thanks full to God that i did not continued in this company for long time,
As a director you don't have feelings,emotions for employees .
Say them you don't have gurts to face that girl directly that's why you used me as a hr to fire her out.
When an employer cant provide mental,emotional,professional and personal security they don't have any authority or right to introduce as an employer.
Write you don't have any policy even don't have self esteem that's why you tried to avoid all her misbehaves and ask me to do the same.
Tell that job satisfaction,environment,self esteem,self pride supports and provides confidence to anyone to perform at his/her best, all were missing.
Tell them that abuses was came to my inbox but it was directly for directors, as that girl,me and directors all met at common place " named company" that abuses was exactly for you, as i did my job as an responsible employee but you run away to face or answer when i need you for support.
Isha before sending this mail make sure you join any other company, look it was not personal, directors exactly wanted to fire that girl, and the soft medium was you, take this accident as an lesson.
While it was all very insulting,demoralizing but stand as a professional and strong leader. be a keen observer isnpite of quick replier.
