Hi All ,
Kindly advise....
We have a situation here, its about my younger brother who has finished his 10 + 2 in 2000 and due to financial crisis/family issues he could not pursue his degree then ,however he has done his B.Sc from 2009 - 2011 through a Govt University as a Private student and he is also working in a MNC since 2006 till date .
My question is he wants to apply for TCS , Are we going to have any kind of issues because of the gap in the degree .
Hope it helps.
Awaiting for the expert advise.
Thanks ,

In a given situation, recruiters generally look for strong academic background with good % and continuity in education at one go (2009-11). However, if experience stands good and able to justify reasons for such gaps - I personally don't think it should be a major concern.I have seen such candidates being hired for Top MNCs' inspite of such gaps.

Thanks Aswani ,
If a person have a solid experience in MNC of 9 years in a ROW and at good position . i don't think a gap between 10+2 and Degree ( 2000 - 2009 /11) will be a big concern as far as he performs well in the interview and give a valid reason of the same .

There will be certainly many questions on a 9-year time gap between the education. What was he doing in this while? Working, at home full time or something else?
Not just tcs, but one should be open to many and any companies in such a condition and the focus should be on getting a job first.

Thanks Aditya ,
2000 He has done 10+2 then 2001 he studied for Pre Medical Coaching for a year but could not get selection .
2002 - 2003 - He did a one year H/w networking course from IIHT.
2004 -Got his first job - worked for few months and then one more company for 10 months from 2005 - 2006 .
Now he is working for a TOP MNC since 2006 till date . ( 8.5 Years )
In between he realized if he wants to move up the ladder he would certainly need a degree ,so he enrolled for a degree programme as a Private student and got his degree in 2011 in Bsc IT .
Reason he could not continue his degree because of financial reason and family issues .
Hope this helps ....

As he’s been working since past 6 years, such gap should not be a big issue. Corporates are, or rather should be sensitive to such issues.

Hi Aditya , Not 6 years , actually 8.5 years in the same company . Hope that would be an added advantage over the gap in degree . I hope this covers the other .

Yes, It will be a big concern as TCS is concerned. If you show reasons they will ask for Plenty of supporting. Recruitment desk not listening any thing as they have many candidates.
