Dear Sir,
I am paying 10K Rent. Lets say my basic is 30K. In that case I will get actual benefit of 10K-3K = 7K Only as per below given rule.
1. 50% (Metropolis) or 40% (Rest of cities) of Basic
2. Actual rent paid - 10 % of basic
3. HRA (As per Appointment letter)
I do not understand if I am paying why the put rule saying only 7K is comes under tax saving?
It looks as non-sense for me.
Also the child education allowance 200/- PM is it not too low. Why the government is not increasing this?

Hi,
I agree with you. But that is how the HRA and education exemption rules for Income tax has been since years. It can to your notice now, we cannot much comment on it.
Only thing which can convince the above rule is that it is for the Country as a whole not for a specific strata of society.:)
