I need to create a succession planning document for critical roles within my Company and I need ideas or templates that can guide me in creating one. I work as an HR Manager for a Telecommunication firm in Nigeria and will appreciate professional input from the house. Thanks

Succession Planning is an exercise, that should only be carried out at Board level.
As an HR manager you can only provide the Board with detailed Job Descriptions.

I don't agree with Harsh - succession planning is required for any critical job, irrespective of the level.
First you need to identify the critical jobs (defined as the company losing revenue or market share if the position is vacant beyond a particular timeframe), then identify the skillsets for that job/s.
You may also decide to provide a different payscale for such jobs so that you can easily attract such talent from the market pool.
