Dear HR Professionals, Now a days we are facing problems to hire candidates from Market. Neither our General Manager want to hire any online services nor want to pay any amount to recruitment consultants.

The General Manager is saying that you have to search candidates online process like, or through Hotel Management institutes also. We have already follow the same process but we are getting resumes through & for freshers candidate only. If we are talking about the institutes then Spokes person of Institutes are saying that we are not providing our students in the salary range as per your company. So i want to share the views of our seniors.

Is it possible to hire the manpower by the HR Department in the above mentioned condition?

Hoping for your valuable feedback as I have to share your feedback with our Management so that we can get the proper reply from the Management.

Hi Sunil,
These days there are lot social media tools are available to post a job and get candidates. You can hire freshers as well as experienced.
You can join relevant groups on Linked In and post job there. Also you can write the same on your wall and request people to like your post so it reaches to maximum people.
You can tweet about your job posting For eg: (#hiring #HR).
You can write on Facebook page also, join relevant groups and start sharing your requirement.
You can use also, you can find talent pool from there.
Apart from that you can request your employees also to give the referrals.
Without job portals and agency, you can use these tools which are practically helpful. Though I have an access to job portal but personally I have used them so suggesting.
Hope it helps!!!

Hi Monika,
Thanks for your valuable reply.
We have the internet access restriction so we can't use social media.
We are not able to hire candidates through because our salary ranges are low..
We cannot use Facebook page.
We have already requested to concern employees for referrals but they are not providing any reference.

Hi Sunil, Can’t you request your management to give you an access to social media for limited time. From Linked In you can hire less salary candidates also.

Dear sunil,
keeping in view the culture, your management thought process.... Strongly recommend you that you please look for job change for yourself.... Otherwise, in longterm yu will be frustrated, stressed & create physical, emotional, pyschological issues for yourself................ No access to scial media
no payent for recruitment agencies
no access to job portals
salary structure below the market level.....
All these factors are indicating that there is gross inadequacy, lack of positive support & low culture... Hence you may please look for a decent job change...........
Best wishes,

Dear Sunil:

As a first step, has anyone in your company ever done a benchmarking activity to check the local labor market conditions and equity among competitors?

If your cost of doing business is not anymore feasible - you should show proof of the same and design a new scheme for your business to cope up with the change of times.

Should your management keep the "Jurassic" mindset - there are 2 ways to approach this;

1 - you are in a sinking ship and your captain is in denial that his boat will reach its final destination; either jump ship or stay on board

2 - you can start a campaign to convince management that the sinking ship can be saved, however you need to look at other ways to reduce cost (i.e. overhead vs. capex vs. employment cost) Reduce cost of doing business, increase efficiency of processes to cost save and move to change the compensation & benefits ratio of your employees.

There are tons of other ways to do it -

Good luck!

Dear Sunil,
The situation which you are facing right now and to the extent I can see the best solution for it would be referrals, which can actually solve your problem and you will not be investing on consultants or any other person, I feel this would be most effective in the current scenario.

Hello Sunil,
Like Rajesh Satyal mentioned, begin to lookout for a change--sometimes it's not worth the effort of trying to change people. The same effort would be better spent elsewhere.
Like the Saying goes: 'You can wake up a sleeping man, but you can't wake up someone who pretends to sleep". And to take this further, we can include 'you can never wake up someone who thinks he is awake even when he is sleeping'--would sum-up the mental outlook of your Management.
All the Best.
