Dear All,

I need all your professional help urgently to determine whether professional taxes will be applicable to us under the conditions below:

- Our corporate office is in Delhi, and our total employee strength is 20.
- We have one branch in Panvel, with representatives located in different cities across India such as Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chandigarh to manage operations at our customer's offices.
- Monthly salary processing and control are handled by HQ (Delhi) before transferring to employees' bank accounts.

Please guide me on the above, as we are confused by the different opinions provided by various consultants regarding the applicability of professional taxes.

Thanks and regards,

Dear All,

My company headquarters are in Mumbai. I always work at sites outside Maharashtra. Professional Tax was not deducted previously since I was working outside Maharashtra State. However, starting from last month, they have been deducting PT. I raised this issue with my office, and they responded that PT is applicable to all employees since my payroll is processed at the company headquarters in Mumbai. This has left me confused. What is the correct procedure? Should PT be deducted or not?

Moreover, what steps can be taken if the employer overestimates your budgeted income and deducts excess Income Tax every year, while also delaying the issuance of Form-16? Due to these issues, I am unable to file my IT returns on time, leading to difficulties in receiving refunds.

I would appreciate it if someone could provide guidance on this matter.

Regards,
Sen
