Hi Mrs Sharma,
You should NEVER confirm a successful probation automatically.
You must always conduct an end of probation period interview; where you and the employee can openly discuss the probation; both you and the employee can learn from this.
Having said that you must ALWAYS issue a confirmation letter, this is to protect you and the employee, should any problems occur in the future.
I hope the above helps.
Regards,
Harsh
It is a prudent HR practice to follow the procedures laid down in your manual or policies to impress up on the employees that you are keen to comply with the policies which you enunciated and also expect the employees to perform their part too. Therefore it is always advisable to issue a letter of confirmation on the successful completion of probation of an employee. This generates trust and faith in the employee in company's policies and in HR, failing which the HR will cut a poor image of itself.I have heard employees questioning the utility of HR more because of it's casual approach to employees' needs and aspirations, however small it may be.
