Whether the Limit of Grtuity has increased from Rs. 15000 to Rs. 25000, or it is still under discussion.
If this limit has increased then in my Company few employees will be coming under Rs. 25000. Hence what process Company has to adopt in order to comply with the Laws.
My Company's registered office is in Mumbai and Corporate Office in Gurgaon.
Please advise and guide.

Hi, The ESI limit still stands at Rs 15,000 and the changes to Rs 25,000 is yet to happen. Regards Amith R.

Hi, no changes are made, still it is continuing as 15000 is the final slab

The Board of Directors of The ESIC, under the Chairmanship of Labour Minister have already passed resolution raising the exemption limit from 15k to 25k on 19-9-2013. This has now to be made in to law by passing amendment in Parliament. With elections approaching, this is being seen as a populist measure and hence may be effected by the year-end. Till then the 15k limit is valid.

Hello All, Thanks for the information. If employer already had covered the employee whose getting salary in the range of 16000-25000 under medical insurance offering more benefits. are we still need to cover employees getting salary of 16K to 25 K under ESI?

@Jayashree - When 15k to 25k gets passed unto law by Parliament then it would be statutorily required for covered organisations to pay in respect of employees whose earnings are up to 25k p.m.
Many organisations shall need to rework their employee compensation/benefits package once this becomes effective.

I need to check one thing that currently if we have 1 employee below 15000 and total number of employees in the Company is less than 20, then what is to be done for ESI for employee getting below 15000.

Where the PF and ESI registration to take place. Whether it is to be done in the state where Company's Registered Office is situated or it can be in the state where Corporate office is situated.

ESIS is applicable where organisation employs 15 or more persons on any day in a given year. Once covered or eligible for coverage the organisation must cover any employee eligible irrespective of whether it is 1 or more. Please register with the ESIC office of your registered office or where your corporate payroll is handled since depending upon employee address and dependents address the IP code is allotted and contributions get credited accordingly. With online mode now available this is easier now.
