Many IT MNCs are indeed currently disqualifying experienced professionals based upon low education percentage or GPAs which is not a accurate method of assessment of professional skills. By experienced professionals it would be someone with greater than 2or 3 years professional experience.

The real issue is that HR professionals in MNCs in India seem to focused on disqualifying maximum number of candidates while working to finish within deadline, when the right focus for assessment of experienced professionals is matching and selection of best professional with best skills to the position requirements.

Post-secondary education, bachelor's degree low percentage GPA is hard and non-negotiable criteria during recruitment of experienced professionals in companies in India, without proper consideration of skill level, experience and professional background.

Experienced professionals with low education GPA must be considered for further assessment of qualifications through 1-on-1 interview and panel interviews. The assessment must be also based on (one or more) professional skills, quality of experience, quality of professional background, general attitude, team fit, professional certifications, skill level as in Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert and interview performance. These assessments are not possible if the professional is disqualified in initial recruitment stages as a result of low education percentage or GPA. Or otherwise provide a simple reason for disqualification as candidate not being the best fit for the position.

When challenged HR professionals will indicate it is standard operating procedure of the company OR as per company written policy. Is it not true policies and procedures are also prepared by company employees and by teams and committees within the company and is subject to change.
