Many of the members have suggested to lodge a police complaint. Ananomous has not stated what exactly is harassment to her. In office work, harassing can be giving more work, or giving work which is not related to her table, or make her sit late hours, spoil her lunch time, give her work which can be completed in three hours but start asking her immediately after half an hour, and then every ten minutes, whether she finished or not. For such kind of harassments, can anyone go to police !!!

If it is any kind of physical torture, or filthy language by bosses, unless a strong witness supports her, I doubt police will attend to her case. And if at all, police accepts her complaint, in today’s world is it relevant to expect change in DIRTY TEAM’s attitude, with police assistance. Sorry to say, NOTHING IS POSSIBLE IN THIS CASE.

Best solution : Quit the job, but at the same time, teach him a lesson for life.

And if she really wants to teach him a lesson, be brave, prepare a fraudulent case of sexual assault, keep ready witness, who can be your close reliable friend in office. Police has to immediately put the person behind bars, atleast for few days. On your request, police will not disclose your identity to outsiders. It will cost you time and money and lots of tension, but satisfaction that you will gain, will be amazing.

Then Quit the Job. Don’t work uncomfortably in any office.

Dear Abhay
I appreciate your opinion and reply to the needy person, but misguiding the person to file a fraudulent case of sexual assault is not acceptable. We do not know what is actually happened in office. After listening to one side we can give suggestion only upto certain limit. Let us be in our limit in giving suggestion and avoid misguiding. If the entire company is against her then immediately the company can bear any cost and twist the case against the lady will further the lady should not get injury to her reputation.

She has written that this manager has full support of a Director. So soliciting anybody’s assistance, or action, from top level, seems to be impossible. Only with a view to prepare some legal base, you may start communicating with big bosses, as suggested by members, but actual change in dirty people’s attitude, by fighting with PEN, Ha Ha Ha !!!

From post # 1 we cannot know whether 'Annonymous" is male or female. Many subsequent posts have given suggestions assuming that it is a female. Without knowing exactly whether it is a male or female it will not be appropriate to give such suggestions. Therefore, 'Annonymous' should clarify whether male or female. It would also be better if he/she gives the age and financial status so that better solutions can be found keeping these vital factors in mind. Better solution also depends on the ease with which he/she can find an alternate job.

That apart, there is a common point to be noted. We may many times come to a conclusion that someone is doing a fraud or favouring certain people in the workplace because they are the relatives. Jumping to conclusions should be avoided. We must be able to substantiate our allegations. Without substantial evidence we should not label any one as 'good' or 'bad'.

In the circumstances now created in this case it is better to quit and find another job and be prudent in future.

Each and every statement of Bpugazhendhi is practically correct, in the whole episode of this discussion. Each writer has written many things just on presumptions, which atleast I accept, my fault. Sir, very good post and thanks for such views.

Dear Sushma,
I have gone through the advice of our colleagues, they are fine.
I feel that it may not be possible to fight it out yourself against the hooligans you have referred. My advice are as under:
1. Please close your FB A/C ; and
2. Change your job.
In case you opt to fight it out by remaining in the same organisation it may be too difficult for you to survive and save your self from the harassment of the nature you do not know.

Dear Sushma,

You've got a lot of advise this far.

What we all get to hear is from you, which may be one-sided and fair too, however, what the others have to say isn't known.

I am not suggesting that you aren't stating the facts, it is merely to let you know that they could produce something's that can become difficult and embarrassing for you to handle.

Like I always say, "We can empathize with you, but you are the one right there on the "battlefield" and you alone know the people so you are the best judge. whatever our professional colleague spell out here are professional, ethical, legal aspects. It needs you to put up a brave front to tackle situations. Be sure that you have the total support of people back home. Also be sure wherever you go next to work that this episode will not figure or resurface to hamper your growth there too.

I've faced one such this in 1994, I could have fought it out, chose to opt out, but 14 years later, our company was acquired by the same people whom I bid goodbye in 1994. Time has changed and so had the situation. I could stand up and tell them in no uncertain terms that they keep away from me lest they burn their hands trying to take on me, and that too with 70 odd high class professionals willing to back me to the hilt. I anyway was deprived of a lot of things including designation, and money, but to me it didn't matter. I held my head high and walked out of the whole thing like a "colossus," but not too many will get what I got.

Finally i submit, "Fight if you can, else quit if you think you are fighting against several odds including the fear of your future. Make up your mind giving yourself a good time to think and that too decisively. The first option is going to be endlessly on with probably no end date, whereas the other option let's you have complete control of the situation and time."

Warm regards,

TSK. Raman
