hello,
i am working in an IT company and just joined as HR. i came to know that my company follows the sandwich leave policy. i just wanted to know whether the sandwich leaves are counted at the time of festival. i.e. now as if diwali is coming i wanted to inquire that my company is offering holiday on 3rd, 4th, & 5th nov. but if any employee takes leave on 2nd and 6th of nov. do i need to calculate it as 2 days leave or 5 days leave.
Please do help me regarding the same...

Hi Zil,
If there is a policy of sandwich leave applies in your organization then I feel that during festivals also that must be applicable.
There is a very less chances to waive off out the policy during festivals. You can only ask your HR team for the way out.

For sandwiched leave policy, ideally, it will be 5 days leave from 2nd to 6th....
In sandwich policy, we count from the start date to end date of leave irrespective of the fact that there are weekly offs or pre-declared holidays.
I hope this clears your doubt.

If your company follows sandwich leave policy then 2 days leave does not arise at all it will be 5 days from 2nd till 6th, as Ms. Ankita has mentioned. Since you are into HR, you should know and understand all HR policies as you people are supposed to explain the policy of the company to other department employees.

Dear Sir, Company cannot have dual leave policy.Pl en quire with your HR Department. SPKR

Accordig to my understanding, leaves can only be pre-fixed or suffixed. In sandwich policy, leaves counted for whole period. IN this case all 5 days.
