Richa,
Every where the wage is calculated for 26days only, as per the act we need to provide a weekly off after continuously working for 48 hrs ie., 6days. Thegratuity calculation etc., are based on this ruleonly but most of the organizations conveniently dividing the total wage by 28 / 30 / 31 and paying which is not correct, you can find the difference when you are getting wage partially ie., less than the actual no.of days in a month, the employees are also comfortable because the deduction will be less wrt the Loss of Pay.
Thanks and regards - kamesh

Dear Sir,
Wage or salary will be paid to the working days only. In offices of Govt. normally the salary will be calculated for 30 days.
In industries, wages will be paid for working days i.e. 26 days. In Payment of minimum wages G.Os, it was mentioned clearly that the wage will be for 26 days. In mutual agreements also the Management and workmen will be agreeing like that. Hence it is valid in law.

Payment of wages will be for working days only. Not for weekly off days.
In calculation of wages, some companies will take 26 days for calculation of monthly salary. This is a correct way.
Some companies will pay 30 days as wage calculation i.e. for weekly off days also inclusive. This is also correct.
All these are depends upon the policy of the company. They will written down in their wage agreements or in Standing orders of the company.about calculation and followup will be accordingly.
