Hi Subhajit,
I would suggest you to ask these question in face to face interview, it reflects confidence of candidate.
Or if you want to conduct pre-interview questionnaire, cross check same during interview too.

Dear All
In a bid to widen the social security safety net, the Labour Minister, Mr. Sis Ram Ola has announced that the people drawing a salary upto Rs. 25,000/- shall be covered under the ESI Scheme.
Currently, the benefit is available to people drawing a salary upto Rs. 15,000/- only.
As per information available, the decision has been taken on Thursday, 19th September 2013.But could not trace any gazette notification in the net.Can you please assist regarding the change made if any.
The last increase in the salary ceiling for ESI was made in May 2010, when it was raised to Rs.15,000/- from Rs.10,000/-.

APPLICABILITY

Under Section 2(12) the Act is applicable to non-seasonal factories employing 10 or more persons.

Under Section 1(5) of the Act, the Scheme has been extended to shops, hotels, restaurants, cinemas including preview theatres, road-motor transport undertakings and newspaper establishments employing 20* or more persons.

Further under section 1(5) of the Act, the Scheme has been extended to Private Medical and Educational institutions employing 20* or more persons in certain States/UTs.

*Note: 14 State Govts. / UTs have reduced the threshold limit for coverage of shops and other establishments from 20 to 10 or more persons. Remaining State Governments/UTs are in the process of reducing the same.

The existing wage limit for coverage under the Act is Rs. 15,000/- per month ( w.e.f. 01/05/2010).

AREAS COVERED

The ESI Scheme is being implemented area-wise by stages. The Scheme has already been implemented in different areas in the following States/Union Territories of Indian Union.

STATES

All the States except Manipur, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

UNION TERRITORIES

Delhi and Chandigarh

Details regarding Centre wise Implemented Areas as on 31.03.2012 as per Actuarial Branch (.xls format)

Coverage(As on 31st March, 2012)

No. of Insured Person family units 1.71 Crores

No. of Employees 1.63 Crores

Total No. of Beneficiaries 6.63 Crores

No. of Employers, etc 5.80 Lacs
