Dear Team,
I had given my resignation on dated 3rd June 2013 with a notice period of 92 days and my last working date was 2nd Sep 2013.
On last day 2nd Sep 2013, I received one letter from my HR that, the last working day extended till further notice, without any specific date.
One next date 3rd Sep 2013, I stopped to go to Office and intimated to my supervisor, my seniors and my HR that 2nd Sep 2013 was my last working date and I can extend one day even.
Now I received one letter from the HR, your resignation cancelled , and we are unable to issue the relieving letter.
Kindly help.

Hi,

There are few clarifications that would throw light in to your issue, as generally HR's do not issue this kind of letters, also there are many procedures before exiting the organisation.

1. Was proper handover of your work given in writing or mail to the manager, what is the notice period in your contract.

2. Was your resignation on mail and last working date mentioned in the same.

3. While you receive the extention letter for last working date, whether you discussed this with your manager or sent a mail explaining, you may not accept this letter for extention.

4. On your last day, did you complete the exiting formalities.

In the above case, firstly you should not accept the extention letter, and immediately meet your manager and HR. The organisation has the right to extend your contract if proper handover is not provided or any project undertaken is not closed.

However an complete handover mail to your managers may suffice.

Please visit your organisation and all the clearance from all the departments and provide the same to HR,

Dear Mr. Pradeep Kumar
First of all answer the query raised by Anonymous so as to advice you appropriately. The HR will extent the notice period if the project you are handling is not completed or if proper handover is not made. Secondly please let the forum know the reason mentioned for extension of Notice Period/Resignation cancellation.
Last but not the least the current employer is right in asking the relieving letter, as they are also keen in knowing whether proper handover given/project completed and relieved from the previous company smoothly i.e. smooth exit.
You are thereby requested to speak to the HR of the previous company and sort the issues out amicably. Do you require further guidance from the forum please feel free to write
