Dear All,
Just want to know, how far it is good to organize "Attitude Management, Culture, Motivation etc" programs for Office Boys?
I had a long debate with my training manager on this topic, I told them that these softskills are required for them but Office Boys are people who are actually fighting for very small money and salary is very big issue.
My point is "If the basic need is not answered, softskills programs are useless"
What say?

Dear Amit,
I do agree that office boys may not respond to a softskill training program since the motivation factor for them is money.
But training is impertaive even for them, not just for softskills but also on the way they dress and greet employees and guests in the organisation.
Personally I think that if housekeeping staff is treated with respect they will respond positively and you won't really need to train them.

Hi Amit,
Soft skills program is definitely good for office boys..infact they should def be trained in proper office etiquettes.. Giving them the knowledge (without hampering their duties)' is def a boon to them as they cannot afford to get it otherwise.....knowledge is priceless...it would help them all thru their life.......its a good thought........just go ahead..

Hi Amit,
Good debate started, I agree for off.boys Money is a motivator but giving them respect or treat them in a good manner will give you positive response, as far as training is concerned its for your own org.also, they need to know general office etiquettes so you should go ahead think for your co. if not them, it will help both but yes not on cricket match day.

Thanks Shilpi,
So you agree that cricket match is more important than training for office boys. Right?
Now tell me, an office boy has to arrange for money for his child school fees and today is last date..should I expect his presence??
Remember folks I am not against training but I think it should be given when people are in receiptive mode.

hey amit, they wouldnt come to you..i dont think they atleast understand what is soft skills...we will have to go them only when they are leisure..start off informally..like while having coffee sit with them, have a good rapport, let them trust and realise you......they are not all that educated to understand formal trainings... explain the importance...it would take time but definitely not tough......

I agree with you Sari !!!
I think this is the better way of doing training actvities. But my question is bit different :-
" Will it be good to give them inputs when their basic need is unanswered"
Remember their average salary is around 3000/- PM.

If they are made realise that this is an additional benefit (apart from the salary)....i think that should be alright......

Great Idea !!!
Take a moment and see this...
"Sir, ye kya ho raha hai? Training kyo karwa rahe ho? Muze bahut kaam hai, kya training attend karna jaruri hai?
Movie (Chack de India) to dekhi hui hai sir. Isme kya hai? Aur hamne kya galat kiya jo hame bata rahe ho movie? Sare office boys aapas me dost hai. Hame to lagta hai ki ham Chack de India ki hockey team hai aur aap log Australia ki team, jo chahiye wo dete nahi ho aur faltu kaam karwa rahe ho."
