Hi Amit,
Beofre provide any training , Aspirant should be aware of the benefits he will get after training. If the person does not understand the value of input then their is no mean of any training.
I would like to tell you that i am working in IT Company, here is no. of client come every month from US or UK. In this situation its very hard for offfice boy or Driver to understand their language or wht edjactly they want. So company has organised a programme for that , they have improved in that themselves. They can not speak so fluent but can understand & can reply to guest also so their is no gap.
Its a example how a person take the thing.
Sucess will be thier if Passion is their.
Thanks

hi amit,
I have not commented anything personally against you. just i enquired whether you are from HR or not? why you take such an enquiry so personally!
Anyway if you had created a case study; please my friend - the work is not done in a right perspective. Please dont take it personally. it is only my view point and just a comment.. you had done a good attempt... but more background work would make it perfect
all the best
thanks & regards

Hi Sunil,
I appriciate & regard your view, thanks a lot for your reply.
See putting the concept of organizing event on "Cricket Day" was to understand what people prefer "Development" or "Enjoyment". Now I know obvious answere to this would be "Development with enjoyment" but I am not satisfied with that, I prefer "People should enjoy getting knowledge, rather than getting knowlege while enjoying."
For me if there was any program on SAP or HRIS on the same time I would have been there rather than watching cricket match, offcourse I like cricket but passionate for self development.
Anyways I am sorry if I hurt you in asking clarification of your statement.

Hello Amit,
Here the issue is not Cricket V/s training or Important tasks like dead lines like children's fees last day agaist the training session.
When you want to educate some one or want to inculcate some perticular knowledge in some one it is not an over night thing.
As far as training is concern you can expect a person learning technical things can produce the results immidiately but a person going for soft skill training, takes time to impliment the learnings in routine life.
So the thing is its a long term process with compare to other trainings and especially when it is with ground level employees. you can certainly motivate them to learn all that skills and office etiquettes by providing the training during their working time and providing some small monetory rewards.

Hi,
I tried the same with my Housekeeping boys. Initially, they responded in a positive way but after 2 classes, I would see that they are not much interested in getting trained with soft skills.
Their sole intention is only to make money. Of course, some may have interest in climbing the ladder fast, but all that matters is "Interest"!
You can't expect them to be a big shot. But you can train them in the the following:
1. Personal hygiene and keeping the surroundings hygienic.
2. Greeting the employees.
3. Time Management
4. Ways of improving dedication towards work
5. Positive thinking
These points are the max, which I think can be inserted into their heads. They are too small for others...
I am not meaning it in the negative sense. But that's what they are capable of...

Hi Sunil,

I appriciate & regard your view, thanks a lot for your reply. (Thanks Amit for your positive approach and understanding in this matter. That should be the spirit and required for development of anyone)

See putting the concept of organizing event on "Cricket Day" was to understand what people prefer "Development" or "Enjoyment".(if you look into the Maslow's theory once again you will get more insights in this matter and you yourself will have the answer)

Now I know obvious answere to this would be "Development with enjoyment" but I am not satisfied with that, I prefer "People should enjoy getting knowledge, rather than getting knowlege while enjoying." (You have that high level of maturity and achievement drive which cannot be expected from others. Mother Teresa loves to be with underprivileged people; we cannot expect the same from Aish. look into the other aspect, what is the purpose of knowledge if there is no enjoyment. it is the individual priority that determines which way one looks into the same)

For me if there was any program on SAP or HRIS on the same time I would have been there rather than watching cricket match, offcourse I like cricket but passionate for self development. (again i know a few colleagues of mine who are excellent in their work but they are working in an NGO and given any opportunity they rush to that activity. i always find it difficult to get these 3 guys for any company sponsored get-together because for them NGO activity is dearer to them - see people vary)

Anyways I am sorry if I hurt you in asking clarification of your statement. (come on man we are here to help each other and even if you hurt me for a good cause- i dont mind at all)

KEEP GOING

I think if we can show a career graph to office boys also, there may be a change in their attitude. But what ever it is, money plays a main part. Lets not think of office boys, most of the professionals in big designations too have this kind of attitude, may be the range may vary.

Hi Amit
Corporate Training should always be with certain objectives and these objectives should be in line with the organizational and individual objectives.
If objective is only to teach them ettiquettes , office boys may not be motivated. on the other hand if we tell them by learning these they can increase their income eg by working in clubs on weekends, best office boy will be rewarded, then certainly they will be motivated.
Training to office boys can also be provided so that they can take more responsibilities like doing some bank work, typing, filing, stock maintenance.etc It will enrich their job and can make them eligible for better pay!!!
Whay do you say!

I do agree with you Alpana. My point of saying is "First basic needs (Masslow' theory) should be address and then we should devolop other skills." Regards Amit
