Is 11,000 AED per month enough in Dubai for a person with 2 (spouse and kid) family memebers?
One of Dubai's company has offered me 11,000 AED per month + Medical benefit + air ticket per year.
I have to manage accomodation and transport on my own.
Can anyone please guide me how much saving will be possible with this salary?
Also they have mentioned that the company is in free zone, what is the benefit of it?
Thanks in advance.

I just checked the average cost of living from this link
Cost of Living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Prices in Dubai.
Seems link 11000 AED/ month is less.

Hi Amar,
The salary offered is not bad. Since you don't have UAE experience, this offer to me is very good.
The good thing about freezone is that, you can move to another company anytime without facing a ban.
This means that you can come to Dubai, get some experience and then if you are not happy you can move on to another company.

AED 11000 is good. Is company not providing accommodation? Usually companies do provide that. Check it out if they can provide. If not, you have to shell out rent normally AED 2000 to 3000/- for a studio flat

around AED 3000/- would be other expenses. I agree with Pon1965 that you can save 30%

It is good for you that the company is free zone as if in case you wish to change the company, there won't be any ban on you. So you are free to look for another company if you are not happy with the current company in 6 to 8 months down the line. However I do mention it is good to continue with the same company for the year to avail benefits like air ticket and annual vacation.

On other note, before taking the decision you have to consider school expense of your kid. I am not sure on that part. Other fellow members can guide.

At last I would like to close with famous quote of Albert Einstein - "The measure of intelligence is the ability to change."

All the best with your thinking process

11000 AED I pretty good. If you are willing to commute a little bit more, then you can take up housing in Sharjah, which would be pretty cheap. Dubai is well connected through recently launched MRT and you could use it for commuting. Since you are in Free zone, you can always find another job, once you move to Dubai, since most employers prefer those who are already based in Dubai.

Dubai being a Financial Capital and also the hub for Middle East and Africa, there are tons of software companies which service their clients based in Middle East and Africa. Almost every big software company has a base in Dubai and they prefer to recruit people who are based in Dubai.

Thanks so much.
As explained by the employer that the further process to get work visa is as follows:
1. I will have to courier ( by post) them my attested (UAE Embassy) degree certificate, this might takes 8/10 days.
2. once they recieved it, they will process visa and it will take 8/10 working days.
3. After getting visa they will send me air ticket and visa copy
4. I will have to show this copy to airport authorities on arrival in dubai.
5. After this i will have to give medical test and then apply for residence visa , this will again take 1 or 1.5 months time..
I have following questions:
What will be the visa category, above timelines are correct?, can somebody explain the process in detail to me?
Also since they have mentioned that company is in free zone, is there any work visa category which does not allow me to work for another company , is there any restriction like this...
please explain..thanks
