Hello Rashmi,

Greetings from Ansh | Allied Learning Solutions

The challenge you face when it comes to 'on-time-reporting' is a widely faced one in the manufacturing sector.

We recommend that the usage of penalty is a 'last ditch' effort. Simply put, it alienates your employees from the organisation that they currently serve. In essence, as a Factory or Manufacturing unit you have a large segment of your workforce that may be associated with you for a long period of time. This association may result in them being complacent toward their basic responsibilities toward the company, such as 'Coming on Time'.

One way you could deal with this immediately is by promoting a R&R (Rewards & Recognition) effort. The idea being motivation. You, by the end of the month, install a program in your company where you keep a timesheet with all employees who show more than 90% on-time reporting be eligible for some sort of a reward in cash/kind or even recognition by means of a certificate and a small memento.

On the long run, this needs to be placed as a sensitizing activity, where the employees, old or new, young or aged be made to understand that they are integral to the organisation and that they are valued. In addition to this, an introspection on 'Why do they come late?' would be of great help.

We as an organisation help with HR issues and challenges such as this. For further details you can get in touch with me on '+91 9978978359'

Dear Rashmi
I work as HR and Admin Officer for a manufacturing company. In my company ,we have also set penalties for late coming workers. It goes as 5 min grace time is allowed for all workers , 4 times late in a month for 10min is allowed and after that Penalties are applicable - Rs.50/- for coming late Between 9.05 to 9.30am , Rs.100/ for coming late bet 9.30am to 10.00 am and late after 10.00 am will be considered as half day leave. The said amount is collected in Employee Welfare fund and its been utilized for employee welfare activities... Well this scheme as very worked in my company.

Hi Rashmi,
We have also implemented the rule as mentioned earlier. If an employee comes in 3 days late consecutively, the third day is marked as a half day leave.
I hope that would do the trick. People might take it lightly when they have paid leaves, but once those are over, everyone would come in, on time everyday unless of course there is an emergency.

Hi Rashmi,
What you can do here is, you can give time window may be half an hour so if your office timing is 9.30 am you can keep a window between 9.30 to 10.00. Employees has to finish the working hours. whom so ever comes even at 10.01 am you can mark half day to that employee.
It works like wonder trust me :)

Hello Everyone
I'm working in IT Company as HR Manager. I'm also facing same problem. Now m going to apply same rules i.e. if employee comes late 3 times in month then his/her half day salary will be deduct. Firstly employee comes late and if management say them to put some extra time they are asking overtime for that. How to resolve such problem.
