Dear Page 7 posters, please read through Pages 1 - 6 .. helps put your comments in context to the discussion.
Seems like Upasana has quit the conversation without any appreciation for the advice. And we thought only wicket keeping is a thankless job. Mr TVS Rao also seems to have given this post a miss after all the responses to his comment.
I repeat, its rather distressing to see this culture of arrogance and taking other's time for granted. However, as bloggers we will continue saying what we think is right.
At times like these, Bhagavat Gita comes handy:
Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshou kada chana,
Ma Karma Phala Hetur Bhurmatey Sangostva Akarmani

Dear Executor,
Thank you for the message with a quote from the Baghavad Gita. If the meaning had been given, it would have been better. I have included the meaning here for the benefit of those that do not understand Sanskrit.
Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshou kada chana - You have the right to perform your actions, but you are not entitled to the fruits of the actions.
Ma Karma Phala Hetur Bhurmatey Sangostva Akarmani – Do not let the fruit be the purpose of your actions, and therefore you won’t be attached to not doing your duty.

Is he a contributor to ESIS. They have some financial cover for employees on retrenchment/ loss of job
Dear Upasana,
You said you have excess manpower and that is why you want to reduce staffs. If that is genuine, it comes under retrenchment. You may justify your termination if you pay the employee in accordance with retrenchment laws.
However, if you ask him to resign, he may challenge that as 'constructive dismissal'.

You can do one thing that start a small Training and Development program for all employees, also conduct small test based on it and also circulate notice mentioning about the L&D and also mention that bottom performers have to look for other options.
This might help you and your organization to reduce on Non performers.
