Mohan,
It is always better to tell the truth in a more appropriate manner. She can explain her situation and also tell the interviewer that she was always interested in working and due to bad family situations she did not get an opportunity to seek a job, but still when she was at home she has done enough reading/attended workshops/training in order to develop her skill set.You can also ask her to tell the interviewer that she is bound to work better and meet expectation on any critical job environment. Her strong motivation factors have really brought her back to seek a job in spite of so many distracting factors in life. She really looks for a career to prove herself.
All the best to your sister.
Regards,
Kiruthika
