It depends upon what type of work you have allotted.

Excel have everything you need. If you need prepare monthly, daily MIS, analysis, employee master etc.., you will need excel & many of its functions. do not bother to segregate. Knowledge in excel is requisite for any office staff. Keep your mind open and learn all you can by using it constantly.
All you want is genuine interest, you will find yourself updated everyday.

Hi,
V lookup , once you understood ,it is very easy. Plan in your mind , put on a paper study your ideas. Then go to V lookup formulae. V Lookup is excellent condtional application. This will be like this... if turn left I need this .. if right this ... Example: If you have some names is 1st sheet. In second sheet you will write some information. Now you can write any thing in Vlookup formulae in second sheet with conditions.. You give any problem. I can give you good line of application.
