AM finding it difficult in understanding Labor welfare fund concept in Kerala. As per shops and commercial establishment act , Kerala any company which is registered under this Act shall be automatically registered to the LWF as per shops act; accordingly the Act would apply.
My question to you all is that what would happen in case of a Factory registered under Factory and Boilers Act which has less than 150 workers in food industry. I have come across various welfare forms like coir, dairy, cashew nut, employee welfare fund board etc., will this Act apply if yes which board should it be registered.

Hi Byju,
In Kerala shops and commercial establishment are governed by the kerala shops and commercial establishment Act. The welfare fund applicable to shops and commercial establishment is Kerala Shops and commercial establishment workers welfare fund Act in short WWF controlled by the workers welfare fund board. The contribution as to be paid in monthly basis ie Rs.40 per employee. As per the 2009 amendment all the establishment except the establishment which comes under the factories act is governed by the Kerala S & CE workers welfare fund.
As far as factories are concerned the welfare fund applicable is Kerala labour Welfare Fund Act. Except Kerala Labour Welfare Fund Act no other welfare fund is applicable to factories in Kerala.

Thanks Mehrunisa for your reply. Trust my explanation below is correct:
All Factories registered under Factory and Boiler Act will come under Kerala Labor Welfare Fund Act and all establishments who are under Shops and commercial Establishment Act comes under Shops and commercial establishment workers welfare fund.
