Dear all,
As you know I am working with an IT Company.
I have thought to start a award "Best Team of the Quarter",
But now I am in confusion that what should be the criteria for this.
It was a nice response from your side about Best employee of the month.
Now please guide me and tell me,
what should be the criteria for this ?

Dear Vipul,

Easiest way of measuring team is the revenue returns. However, that might not be a complete measure.

A team can be measured on many different criteria, with different categories such as best-self managed team, highest performing team, best knowledge sharing team, best collaboration, highest improvement and so on.

However, the trick in measuring how critical is the delivery . One team may deliver a low end project, whereas the other may have far greater responsibilities and higher financial stakes.

Its might be easy for a team of coders or testers to remain the highest performing team where as the team for Quality Assurance might be under pressure.

Please keep complete view of the supportive functions while measuring the success to team

Here's few materials to get you started. It isn't the direct material, but will help you build a basic understand with new ideas .

Dear (Cite Contribution),
Thanks for your continuous help,
I really appreciate the things you told me,
as far as my view is concern,
I have define 3 points and will add your points,
1. Team Work
2. Productivity
3. Resource Utilization
these are correct ?

Team work and collaboration are the perfect measures. Please keep a close watch on productivity as some may have more demanding jobs. Identify cushions for the teams working on critical projects.

Resource utilisation needs to stretch beyond the Workforce-Management. Allocation and delegation might come naturally. Identify how easily does the team complement strengths and stretch limits to support each other.

Above all please avoid the pitfall of stars in the team. Members working for individual gains and personal targets might increase unless you measure the success only through each other.

Suppose in a team of 6, 3 team members are high performers. They shouldn't just stay focussed on shooting the performance targets through their own performance, but helping a lower performing team member achieve his/her goals.

Acknowledge the supportive functions such as an accommodative clients to work for, better training programs, team-members employed with the firm for a longer duration, appreciative and fostering leadership and so on.

The best measure would be to measure teams on their own performance. If you can rate the improvement brought about since the last audit , you will be able to motivate the team exceed excellence in no time.

As I told you (Cite Contribution),
right now we are working on those 3 points and points given by you.
but now the competition has become bit tougher..
so we are thinking about few points which can help us to find the winner..
as far as those 3 points are concern, everybody has performed their best..
so now the question is what to do ?
