Hi all,
Is there any statute on criteria to be adopted to make weekend a paid off ? Eg : If an employee is on leave on friday and monday,then saturday and sunday will also be considered as leaves . ie his CL balance will be debited by 4.
If there is no statute for this purpose what is the standard operating procedude(sop) followed for this in case of IT industry ?
My intention is to understand whether the following rule is fare
Minimum 3 working days in a week is required to consider Weekend holidays coming as suffix, as paid leave. . Public holidays will be exempted from this rule.

To which industry do you belong to.
I understand that your trying to reduce leaves availed by your employees.
Do a root cause analysis. Find out the reason why the frequency of leave has increased.
Even if you work a best legal way out, this will only reduce the number leaves taken, but the impact of this will reflect on productivity, and if you don't attend to productivity loss, soon that will lead to increase in attrition rate. Any time when you plan on modifying HR policies have a broader look and calculate results with respect to long term. HR process is actually a long term process it needs to be continuous and consistent with willingness to change according to needs. (Carrot and Stick rule does not work).
