I have been working with infrastructure company as personnel and Administration officer. i am looking all Statutory compliance, General Administration and Legal activities of the company. i also got a grade promotion last three year back . last five month i have been transferred to overseas project. in the time of Appraisal my boss told me you are unfit for Administration work and giving you Rating Four, which is performance needs to improvement. i could not understand where is my weakness. i have already completed three project and having fourteen year experience, Kindly suggest me what i will do either switch off the company or continue with the company.

Please speak to your boss and take specific inputs on where you went wrong. The chances are you may get a detailed answer, which can help you plan your development program or you may not get any straight answer.

Both ways, please partner with your boss on your progress. No matter how hostile he may seem, any amount of inputs from him will help you gain a foot hold. Work to understand the parameters your performance have been measured on. Collate all the areas you have been missing out on and plan how would you bridge them. Identify a complete development program to become what he may need you to be at your role. Seek his approval for any training program that he may find useful for you. Enrol for the program even if your company doesn't sponsor it. Find a mentor in your boss, during this development program.

You are always free to look for a new role. However, you need to go from strength to strength. Hence, use this as an opportunity to find an anchor to your career with greater understanding and confidence.

Dear Sukant,
Your performance Management system should be robust to share the feedback from your Managers on timely basis, it should not come as surprise to you on being rated four.
If ii understand correct ,here rating 4 is below avg. Has your reporting Manager ever shared the feedback on areas of improvement- if not get it documented and send to HR for a meeting o Dissension.
Sometimes, due to rightsizing/laying off process or due to bell curve maintenance, these issues arise. Keep the communication transparent with your seniors and talk with your accomplishments and metrics
Do not leave the job, till you get a better one.
