Hi to every one of seniors,

One of my friend worked as telecom engineer from 2008 to 2011.after that i resigned the company for preparation of PSU exams like ONGC, IOC, SBI, other banks. I seriously prepared for the exams, without doing any job. but i did not succeed any of PSU exams. so, from may 2011 to april 2013 , i did not worked any where. Now, i turned back ,for private jobs searching.

i am getting interview calls from the companies from medium to large MNC's like Yahoo!, Amazon, IBM. Accenture, Cisco based on my previous experienced. i am also attending the interviews happily and successfully clearing the interview rounds( Written, Technical,HR). The problem is:

HR: why u having 2yrs of gap from 2011 to 2013.

Me: i prepared for PSU exams.

HR:" i will call you back"

Me:" i am not getting any offer letter"

I am not interested to put fake certificate, to fill this gap. so, i am genuinely answering the reason that i am prepared for PSU exams and failed in exams.

I did not understand what mistake i had done, and i am loosing the job opportunities.

so, anyone can tell me

1.why these companies are not considering me for job?

2.if a person having 2years of gap means, what's wrong/ mistake /SIN he had done.?

3.how to overcome from this problem?

4.in which way i have to explain with correct reason.(Business failed/ Accident met).

5. why every company was avoiding me, because of employmet gap 2yrs. what is their policy?

6. for men upto how many months employment gap accepted.

i frankly asking the HR after interview next day via phone, why i am not selecting and reason for failure to enhance for next interview. No one providing any feedback either positive or negative.

please help me anyone with good suggestions. now, i am serously searching for jobs.

i am waiting for your replies.

Dear Vinod,

There is a step for everything..remember B comes after A. Today scenario has changed drastically. People take up jobs, as and when they feel they quit the jobs...study or prepare for competitive examinations like you.

Looking at this, many Organisations consider that a quick change of mind and avoid hiring such candidates as candidates are found to have gaps between jobs. Usually they doubt on candidature; its simple when 1000s of candidates are all around why one would hire a candidate having a doubtful candidature.

Appearing for competitive examinations is not a sin neither it's bad. It's up to your luck or some lack of dedication that's why you couldn't qualify any of the examinations.Forget this and focus on the future.

To get away from the situation you need to build the confidence in the interviewer that you really left the job for competitive exams preparation. Please carry as much documents/evidences available that proves how many examinations you appeared into.

I am sure this will remove interviewer's doubt on your candidature and you'll succeed in finding a good job.

Warm regards,

Umesh Chaudhary
