It is not provide an appropriate guidance without knowing what kind of exposure you had during the 2-year period. You can switch to corporate sector again combining your industry experience and teaching. Try for profiles like training, employee engagement, O.D in sectors like Banking or retail.

It is a healthy practice to shift from a university/ academic environment to industry and vice-versa. I endorse that.
But in what role you fit into corporate sector depends on what you were teaching (MBA is a vast area, your expertise has to be specific). If, however, this switch over is out of frustration, you need to be cautious. In your present work environment, pressures may not be many, but in industry it is a high tension job, focused on delivery of performance. You may be teaching concepts like KRAs & KPIs, but here you will be required to meet your own KRAs. And if you are used to a relaxed schedule, it may not be available any more.
Please review your decisions in the light of above discussion, which is not to scare you, but to introduce you to the realities of 'performance driven work culture' in industry.

Dear friends,
First of all why have the doubt within yourself on you ?
Why not ? You are always welcome. Why U should have second thought ? In my view a person with academic background can shine well in industry as you can combine the academic & research experience with industry specific realities well if you remove your blues. You won't be bogged down with past mistakes and inhibitions. :Your success will depend on how well and fast gel with the industry environment. Then, what industry is the question? Naturally you may find some hiccups initially with interviews as you may not have adequate first hand industry experience, but may do well in answering the questions, even suggest solution some typical problems they may pose to you with your logics and fresh academic inputs. But which discipline, it's for you to answer. You know pretty well what's your strengths & weaknesses and try accordingly.
All the best friends.

Vidhya, switching over to industry means facing open competition with others in the market. Take a plunge & prove yourself. I wonder if there are any reservations for candidates from Academic - cum - Research environment. Please do read the views of Kumar S above which are fairly realistic.
I am sure you will succeed. Good luck!

I echo our mentors and experts . Last week I was at a Technology event, where I met a Professor, who founded a company ten years back. Its been a profitable firm, without any funding. They have designed and developed software products for more than 22 firms so far.
I suggest the same concept. Even if you cant start a firm, start with pet projects and offer the solutions to the target company. Let your performance and track record , speak for itself.
If you spend a little more time you build credibility with more than one firm. I wish to hear more on how similar ideas helped academicians find a foothold in the industry.
