Difference between Personnel Management & HRM

<link outdated-removed>

Hope it helped :-)

Dear Ankita Madam, ThanQ very much for your reply. Regards Mohan Babu C, Executive HR
what is the different between HRM and SHRM? which would be more effectiveness for the corporate house? Sunil
Hello Sunil,

HR has transformed over a period of time. From personnel management (which was more of documentation and hiring process) to HRM which is all about employee engagement - motivation.

Now the new funda is strategic HR mangement (SHRM) which is like developing or strategizing the HR activities (Which would be more or less the same) but have an edge to develop organization and business.

Here are a couple of pointers that would help you understand the difference better -

The primary actions of a strategic HR manager is to identify the key HR areas where strategies can be implemented in the long run to improve the overall employee motivation and productivity.

Traditional HR goes completely by the book while Strategic HR makes use of any control mechanism that is helpful in generating results.

About which is better for the corporate -

As I said there is a transition expected that the trend would be SHRM soon. It depends on the risk taking ability of the company if or not they wish to be the leader in this transition or they want to follow the suite.

Also it would depend on the number of people in the firm, nature of work etc.

Hope it helped :-)

Dear Mohan,
1. HR totally deal with employee related issues. i.e.
recruitment, training development, emplyoee engagement,Communication (both internal & external) and
IR (IR is a part of HR) IR deals with industrial disputes, co. emplyoee related issues. for exp.maintain good communication with tradeunion, factory inspector, handling legal issues in labour courts.
2.Admin is a service dept. means provide services to employee & dept. maintain contact with Govt. licensing agencies.
3.Now Personnel. similar to HR dept. but a old concept.

PERIPHERALLY
Men (HR), Machine (Technical), Money (Finance) and Material ( Product / Market) make an Industry.
But independently none can run the show, as their work is inter-linked and shall work symbiotically for smooth running of the industry for achieving the results.
for the "purpose" HR acts as a catalyst
HUMAN RESOURCES :
1. RECRUIT, RETAIN AND RETIRE - PHASES
2. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT / DEVELOPMENT
INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS:
RELATIONS BETWEEN EMPLOYER & EMPLOYER / EMPLOYER & EMPLOYEE/ EMPLOYER & UNIONS / EMPLOYEE & EMPLOYEE/ UNION & UNION
PERSONNEL: STATUTORY REQUIREMENT / COMPLIANCE, LIKE PF, E S I, ETC.
ADMINISTRATION: HOUSE KEEPING / SECURITY / RECEPTION
