Please kindly guide me
As per Maternity Benefit Act, 1961. Maternity Leave is allowed for women employees for 84 days.
I just want to know whether it is allowed for 84 workings days or which also includes non working days like Sunday, N & F holidays.

Don't confuse yourself. Period of maternity leaves includes all week offs / holidays.

Dear Member The law clearly states 12 weeks and not 84 days. So there should be no confusion on this account as a week remains of 7 days. Regards Preetam Deshpande

It has been stipulated in sub-section 3 of Section 5 of Maternity Benefit Act,1961 that a women worker shall be entitled to a maximum period of twelve weeks as Maternity Leave of which not be more than six weeks which shall precede the date of her expected delivery.The maximum period of twelve weeks shall include all types of holidays intervening, prefixing or suffixing with the Maternity Leave. Under the Act,other eventualities of maternity have been provided where shorter period of leave is allowed.

As per Bangladesh Labor Law 2006, a female worker having completed six months services, will get maternity leave of 16 (8+8) weeks with wages. In this case, the employer shall not allow the worker to resume her duty before expiry of eight weeks after delivery.
But no maternity leave will be admissible if the female worker has two or more serviving children.

please let me know if a female employee who is 5 month pregnant and inform the same to company, after hearing this news can a company tell to resign her she is in supporting dept. and during her absence it is difficult to handle the responsibilities?
what she can do, on paper, comapny is having maternity policy for female employees, and that lady is also applicable for that

It is explictily prohibited u/s 12 of the Maternity Act to terminate the services of a employee during her pregnancy. She can approach the concerned govt authority for seeking redressal of her grievance.

but company is making that kind of frustrating environment where she can willingly resign. she informed about her maternity leave (from 1st week of Aug13) them but they have told her to will discuss internally and finally update you what steps we will be taking, so she did not receive any update yet,
