Hi, Good morning all HR Friends, what is BU HR / HR BP profile, what is it stand for? plz suggest Thanks

BU HR stands for Business Unit HR. As some large companies work on BU concept for different verticles / geographical areas, there can be a HR team for each BU.
Never heared about about HR BP.

Here's how it works. Large companies manage different verticals. Each vertical is further identified into a Business Unit, that may cater with services or products to few clients. The reason why it is divided, is to compartmentalise the organisational offerings into different lines of business.

Suppose an MNC Bank buys a software from an IT Firm. The firm is selling similar softwares to Hospital or even Governmental bodies. Hence the firm will form different verticals internally naming them , Banking and Financial domain, Health care, Government and so on.

The software is designed by many different teams at different levels. Hence they will form project teams. Once the software is built, it will need implementation and maintenance. This will collectively form different line of business. Each line of business will have different units , each delivering a definite set of services or a specific part of the product.

Each of these Business Unit, is then allocated with its own set of leadership or management team and representatives from the support services. These representative can adhere to different levels of the organisation, depending on the level of responsibility and tasks to be delivered. Suppose a BU with 100-300 employees may find their own HR Analyst or HR executive. Whereas, a BU with 1000-1500 employees might have their HR Specialist or HR Manager .

These HR are referred as Business Partner to bring in an uniformity across the Organisation. Hence, they ideally have two designation, one is internal and the other is for the customer or market-facing. The support services maintain a matrix structure, where the HR BP would report to their HR Heads and they would also report on a dotted line, to the BU Head .

Each decision in is initiated by the BU head, then appealed by the BU HR , finally approved by the HR Head.

The communication flow remains similar, where the HR Head issues the company announcement , which is conveyed by the BU HR to the BU Head, depending on the level of complexity.

The role of the Business Partner is to own the outcomes with the business.
The day-day work of the Business Partner supports the business and the business leaders. It includes activities like leading workforce planning for the business unit, and partnering to resolve people issues and challenges within the business.
They ensure rollout of the HR programs within the business – succession management, talent assessment, performance management, etc. They may also help implement parts of the new HR model (like Shared Services) and encourage HR staff and stakeholders to use the model the way it is designed. They also support large-scale BU organizational changes by leading change management processes.
They should know the talent in their BU and broker it across the BU and whole organization.
