Dear Anonymous -

I have had been a part of campus recruitment on both the ends - while in college seeking a job for myself and while in my internship offering jobs to BE/BTech. Would answer your query based on my personal experience.

Usually the campus recruitment drive begin with a brief introduction to the company and a pre-placement talk. Perhaps all might have read stuffs on your internet so care should be taken what are you to include in your powerpoint. Based on my experience I would suggest you to include -
  • A brief intro about company - its mission, vision, milestone etc.
  • Organizational Chart - It gives a basic understanding on how the hierarchy looks like and also gives an idea on the future career growth to all. Also note that cover the important people of your company here like your CEO, Chairman and MD by atleast introducing them or including their names.
  • Services or products offered.

Now come to the position for which you're hiring and give details of job role

Share the career growth especially if you're planning to sign service agreements of a couple of years

Share the remuneration and future growth.

After your presentation, keep the stage open for the students to question their doubts and answer them descriptively.

There after you can proceed to your selection process.

Look at the number of the students that you have to access and accordingly decide your selection process.

Usually it involves foll steps that act as filtering round
  • Aptitude Test
  • Simulation Test (This is done only if there is considerably high number of students who cleared your aptitude.)
  • Group Discussion (This may or may not be practiced depending on factors like - number of profiles to be assessed, time constrain, job requirement, etc.)
  • Personal Interview 1 - Technical (The departmental heads usually take this interview to understand the knowledge base of the applicant)
  • Personal Interview 2 - HR (This interview is to understand the fitment of the employee especially cultural fitment)

I hope it was of some help :-)

Income tax is calculated on the CTC or total earning of the person.

Upto 2.1 lac - Tax exempted

2.1 to 5 lac - 10% tax + .33% cess i.e 10.33%

5 to 8 lac - 20% tax + .33% cess i.e 20.33%

Above 8 lacs - 30% tax + .33% cess i.e. 30.33%

Say for example your CTC is 2 lac than no tax.

Similarly if your CTC is say 10 lacs so you'd compute as follows -

0 - 2.1 lac ===== (0.21 lacs) :at rate of 0% ------------------- 0,00,000

2.1 - 5 lac ===== (2.9 lacs) =:at rate of 10.33% ------------ 0,29,975

5 - 8 lac ==== == (3 lacs) == at rate of 20.33% ------------- 0,60,990

above 8 lacs === (2 lacs) == at rateof 30.33% -------------- 0,60,660

Total Tax------------------------------------------------------------- 1,51,625

That would be the tax that you'd pay for the year where your income was 10 lacs

What ever annual tax amount comes in, when divided by 12 (12 months) you get TDS.

In above case (for 10 lacs) the tds would be 1,51,625 / 12 ---------- 12635.416666 rounded off to 12636

I hope the question was answered.
