THE PAYMENT OF GRATUITY (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2012
STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
The sub-section (2) of Section 4 of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 provides
for payment of gratuity to the employees at the rate of fifteen days’ wages based on
the rate of wages last drawn for every completed year of service. In today’s world of
high prices and inflation, the gratuity of fifteen days wages for every completed year
is too meager. At such a small rate, a person cannot get enough amount for post
retirement settlement. It should therefore be atleast at the rate of thirty days’ salary
for every completed year of service.

According to me , The said bill is not yet passed by parliment.
THE PAYMENT OF GRATUITY (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2012 is not applicable without passed by Parliament.

The proposed bill is under consideration with the Parliament and it will be applicable only in the case of approval from both the Houses of Parliament of India. Lets see what happen with the bill ? Lot of other bill like amendment in PF Act, Factories Act and BOCW Act are also pending with both the houses.

If these are amendment are related to MP's like their Payment hike & allowances than they would passed it in the next parliament sessions.
Now these amendment like gratuity act, PF act & Factory Act are related to common man
so dont expect them to do it soon.

Good contribution. Although same is yet to be passed houses of parliament however it adds to our updates on efforts towards welfare of service class.

any thing in favour of members of parliament/legislators of assemblies is passed within a friction of seconds. Because it is their birth right.They are the law makers.When the question comes for giving the benefits to the poor citizens of this country , these leaders /MPs/MLAs make false promises and keep the poor masses waiting for the next election just to hear them that if they are re-elected the the promises would be fulfilled. Don't hope for the better.
