The only effective engagement activity is to listen to the concerns employees have and respond to those concerns to their satisfaction or better. Engagement is a choice employees make based on how well they are treated by management and the skills involved, including why those skills are effective, are easy to learn and execute.

You can start cross-functional internal training sessions, wherein one department will enlighten about their activities to another department. In this way, everyone will understand and respect the roles they play in the organization. This is absolutely a cost-effective approach, as it does not require any external resources, only the utilization of internal resources.

This initiative will also aid in the self-development of the teams.
