Hi All,
Related to Absenteeism or Late coming, we often use the word "Habitual" can you please let us know what do you mean "Habitual Absenteeism or Habitual Late Coming"?
If an employee absent himself 3-4 days in a month for 6-7 months whether we consider it as "habitual absenteeism" case.
I want to know what is parameter to use "Habitual" word?
Regards,
Avinash K.

Dear Mr. Avinash,
If an amployee absents from work intermittently for 3 days in month for 2 consecutive months or 6 days in a month or 20 days in a year it is called habitual absenteeism. It all depends upon your standing order or service rules.
Habitual means - It is a habit.
The termination order draft vary from case to case. As I explained earlier, it is to be complied with all the formalities before passing the termination order. You have to pay one month's notice or pay(gross amount without any deductions) in lieu of notice, if the appointment order clause say so. Or even after conducting due enquiry, you can dismiss the employee based on the quantum of misconduct.
I can provide the draft letter, if you need of it.

Dear Manjunathji,
We don't have Certified Standing Order. But we are following Model Standing Order (Industrial Employment (Standing Order).
In Model Standing Orders, there is no description / explanation of the word "Habitual". or the defination of "Habitual", that why the confusion.
In given context, whether it is advisable to use "Habitual" for 3 or more days absenteeism or Late coming?
Looking forward for your reply.
With regards,
Avinash K.

Dear Avinash,
No problem you can use the word habitual. As I told u in my previous mail it is habit of absenting. consistently.
in the Model Standing Oder also
U/s. "14. Disciplinary action for misconduct.--(1) A workman may be fined up to two per cent of his wages in a month for the following acts and omissions, namely:

(3) The following acts and omissions shall be treated as misconduct.
(a) wilful in subordination or disobedience, whether alone or in combination
with others, to any lawful and reasonable order of a superior,
(b) theft, fraud or dishonesty in connection with the employer’s business or property,
(c) willful damage to or loss of employer’s goods or property,
(d) taking or giving bribes or any illegal gratification,
(e) habitual absence without leave or absence without leave for more than 10 days,
(f) habitual late attendance,
Kindly go through the Model Stnding Order once again.
Hope this willclarifiy your doubt
