Rubis,
Do you have real passion about HR? If so take HR course from reputed institute. Once you do that just try to get the job in HR. Not easy now-a days, but of you have real passion and you are conceptually clear, you will bag the same. Best Luck.

Hi Rubis
You can very well pursue HR with your engineering back ground if you have passion for it. Lack of any previous qualification in social sceince subject does not stand in your way.All that you need is an aptitude for it. If your are some one who is intereted in people's issues and loves communication and socially active, you will like it.A formal qualification in HR is necessary to have a start in the career and thereafter it is your knowledge and skills that keep you afloat. If it is possible, try to do a full time course. If not try to do a part time course while doing a job.If these two options are not possible, you can think of IGNOU or other distance mode offered. However make a proper enquiry before taking admission. If you can pursue the course at Mumbai, you can try at TISS, Mumbaiwhich is reputed for HR.

As rightly said by Mr. Sai Kumar, you would need a formal degree/certification to kick start with HR.
While I was in my MBA-prep time, even my prof used to advice me doing full time over part time or distance mode. The advantage of doing a full time course is that you get a grounding, you get to share idea, you can participate in various events and contribute and can learn a lot about time mgmt and talent development, the most reqd thing in management.
I would still keep it to you if or not you wish to avail a full time degree course. If ur in Mumbai, Welingkars have s, 1yr diploma smthing in HR which you and enquire and weigh all pros and cons....
I can understand you've experience, but understand "experience" means "relative experience" which you dont have. Either you'll land up at a very low cost dng basic rec or if you need good job, pls do sm certification/course.
Hope it was of help :)

Hi Sai,
Thank yu for the information. The thing is now it is not possible for me to do a full time course. Am gathering details for the IGNOU and I would like to know whether any short term certification course available for hr. If there is any, will it be helpful for my career?

Hi Ankita,
Thankx again for your valuable information. Can you kindly acknowledge me with the certification courses available for hr and its benefits. I would like to start up with a job rather than doing full time course. However it is not possible for me to do a full time course now.
Warm Regards,
Rubis.

I would suggest rather than gng for private certification, you can as suggested go for 1 year diploma with welingkars.
WE school has a campus on Banglore as well, pls chk if dey offer same 1 year course in HR there too... It is offered in Mumbai's campus and it is at par with other degree course as my frnd did it.... and we've compared our subjects....
