Hi
Need few inputs pertaining to Ph.D and certification. I am MBA in Human Resources, having 4 years of experience in HR field, recently I appeared for Ph.D enterance test and was qualified. This is part time program and I am a bit confused if Ph.D in HR would be a better option or getting certified from SHRM or CLC or any other reputed institution.
Request your kind inputs

in the long run, Phd would be a good investment. there is a dearth of highly qualified people in HR. in the short run, aquire skill based certifications. does SHRM run such courses ?

Dear Murtuza It all depends upon what you want to do in the long-term. If you want to get into academia then PhD would be very useful. But if you want to work in the industry then not so useful.

To get enrolled into Ph.D you have ample of universities which offer full time or part time Ph.D programs, like state universities, ICFAI, AIMA etc. Well, which state do you belong to?

Greetings,
Each degree or certification will add a definite value to your resume. Identify what would you wish to grow as . Doctoral program are in-depth . Hence offer a credibility in the long term. Whereas certifications are for specific roles . They help you to qualify for them , such as a HR Business Partner, globally. Same stands for the MDP programs, which are focused on areas that the organization needs.
Please plan each step towards the direction you wish to grow. Doctoral programs are the ultimate ones. It gives you the highest level exposure to every issue. The duration builds on your experience along with your job.
It further allows you to work towards your goals in the educational sector. This may not be lucrative, but essential, to build on your knowledge.
