Hi
I am working as HR Manager in a company and recruitment is going on.One candidte yesterday gave 2 resumes and in one i noticed 2.6months experience and in the other it was 2.9.
I was confused...even the candidate is confused about his Work Exoerience. It goes like this
Job 1: 10mnths
Job2:6mnths
Job3:1.1years
Job4: 1mnth
I tried working out but don't know..i am getting confused.
What would be his exact experience..
Can somebody please help me with this....

This particular candidate is having experience in dot net for 10mnths(ie is his first job)
then he shifted to java trainee from his 2nd job, then continued with java for the rest of his career.,
so he has written in his CV as 2.6years of total experience of which 1.8years of relevant experience in java.
I am confused on the part that if he is having 2.6years of exp..of which 1.8 yrs in java...then only 8mnths are left out...but he is having 10mnths exp in his first job...how can that be possible?
LOL!!!! i am confused...

Hey
Its once again left to you. In some certain cases few will consider entire experience and few will consider only relavent experience. If you think as even Java experience will add weightage then you can consider as 2.6 Years

yes we are considering his entire experience..
my issue is not that....my issue is regarding the calculation of exp....
when he is having 2.6yrs of total experience of which 1.8 yrs in java....then only 8mnths in .net(2.6-1.8=8), then how come 10mnths in first job??

Mr. Karthik,
IN whichever way you calculate, his total experience is 2.6 years i.e, 30 months.
So, 1.8 years means 12+8=20 months.
Therefore, 30-20=10 months.........!!!!!
What's your confusion now..???

Dears, Please understand, 2.6 years - 1.8 years is ten months and not 8 months....!!!! Regards, Bharghavi

Very good Maths you have learnt.
Any decimal point will be a fraction of single quantity.
1 year = 12 months
0.5 year = 6 months
0.8 year = 9.6 months that is approx 10 months.
so 1.8 years = 12+10 = 22 months.

The message is very clear, Mr. Karthik. We need to utilise professional supporting sites, like this, to seek advices on matters which are professional in nature and not mere clerical doubts. This will put the person asking questions in a bad light !!
Trust you will agree with me..
