Is there any common slab for the salary structure for Assistant Managers, Managers, Sr, Managers etc for different departments like Accounts , HR etc. In other words I found a Asst Manager in HR drawing 12k while an Accounts Asst Manager gets 18k.

Hi Greek John,

Salary structure is designed for an organisation right at the inception or incorporation. In case there is no structure, it is high time it is studied and implemented. Once the organisation is already up and running, it will be a kind of challenge to bring uniformity with relevance to: Qualification / Number of years of experience / Designation / Salary or CTC for each employee. Otherwise, there will be inconsistency and irrelevance leading to discontentment and unhappiness of employees.. A salary structure is based on these factors which are generally interconnected. You wont find any standard structure readily available anywhere in the world.

One has to study your present set up of your organisation, see how much each employee is being paid per month along with other benefits and bring everything into a structure. It will be a challenge indeed; some corrections need to be implemented also. Management has to approve such corrections as well.

I am a Softskill Trainer and also a HR Consultant. I am providing this kind of consultancy for small and medium scale organisations in South India. You can visit my website and also my profile attached herewith. I have over 40 years of work experience out of which 22 years in the field of HR Domain alone.

If you are convinced that I can set right the structure of your organisation and deliver what is required for you, please get in touch with me quickly.

Best wishes

It is difficult to have same salary slab in professional oranization wherein there are direct and indirect functions. Generally it depends upon how one influence product and business, decision making skills, functional responsibility etc.
You can find in many organization there is common salary structure for particular position but thats not the right approach.

Hi John.
There is nothing like a slab for Manager, Assistant Mangers or executives. It Differs.. It purely on experience and last pay he got from the company.
So, it doesnt mean a person carrying same designation as Assitant Manager of separate departments should have same the salary too..
hope your doubt is clarified.
Regards,
Sai..

Dear Greek
Apart from certain government agencies and PSUs; salary structure in Private sector is generally market driven; based on negotiation; or only in a few cases may have some sort of pay-bands or pay-grades.
The example you have cited is fairly common. To answer you precisely : there iss no common salary slab between departments/functional area; and even within departments.
What it means is; there is no parity among departments and even within a particular department; say Finance & Accounts, two executive in the same rank/designation. say Asst. managers, may bee drawing different salaries.
Such differences are more obvious if you study thee salaries in Marketing or Operations departments, which are considered very vital for the organization.
Compensation and Benefits Management - an offshoot of HRM - in itself is a very specialized and broad subject.
Hope I have been able to answer to your query to a satisfactory extent; or whet your appetite for more information.
Warm regards.
