Dear Experts,
What would be the maximum time to get a Confirmation appraisal from Employer? I have been waiting for more than 6 months. Still no response.
Is this very difficult process taking 6+ months to accomplish? Why it is getting delay?
Thanks!

Dear Singaporean,
Confirmation is a simple task... It does not take much time..
Just check out with your HR as to why it is getting delayed.. In fact, HR can only prepare you the confirmation letter and give it to your hand but your HOD should appraise your performance and give his recommendations for your confirmation to HR department.
Have you undergone any appraisal in this 6 months? If not approach your HOD if HR has given some parameters for your appraisal & follow up.
Only after your HOD gives his recommendation, HR can issue the confirmation letter.
In case, if your appointment terms say that your services will be confirmed only after giving it in writing... then you really have to bother about it & do a necessary follow up.

Dear Singaporean,

Many performance appraisals occur on an annual basis because employers often tie them to promotions Salary increase and other benefits. Therefore, there are other reasons for appraisals like 360 degree appraisal etc. Annual appraisals allow employees and employers with some time to prepare and set goals by creating a schedule for reviews. This is done under the conscientious monitoring of job performance while permitting the notation of trends. All performance issues, good and bad, can be placed in their appropriate context and viewpoint.

It is a perspective thought that the appraisal is purely on the discretion of the employer.

It is especially true when they are departmental wide issues that arise in employees job performance due to which this become stellar and the results become minimized and contraversial for the appraisal and might definitely take a longer period meticulously.

I always suggest to make oneself good- natured to avoid any discriminations. You perform your best suited attitude towards work and aspects, you will be rewarded which you desired. Keep patience!

Dear Sharmila,
I agree with your comments... but I stand corrected if I'm wrong..
According to our company policy, an employee is to be confirmed once his probationary period expires..
Annual appraisal is different and appraisal for doing confirmation of employment is different according to our company policy..
Annual appraisals are carried out every year for all employees in the month of Apr of every financial year.. and this appraisal is carried out to test the performance of an employee as soon as he has completed his probationary period to decide whether to continue that particular employee in our organisation or to terminate his services..
If in case the performance of an employee is not satisfactory, then we extend his probationary period to certain extent and then decide on his termination of services..

There is no fixed time frame for probation confirmation. It all depends on your company policy and your performance during this period. As Bharghavi has correctly pointed out, a confirmation appraisal is usually conducted to determine your performance level just when your probation is about to complete.

If you meet the required level, you may then be confirmed. If not, your probation may be extended. If this is the case, HR and your direct superior must provide you the necessary mentoring & coaching to bring you up to mark. There is also no fixed extension as it depends on your performance gaps.

If it is extended by another 3 months, you will be appraised again at the end of the 3 months. If your performance is now up to mark, you will be officially confirmed with an official letter. If your performance is still not meeting expectations, the company has the right to terminate your employment.

The process may seems simple in the eyes of a non-HR, but there are due diligence that HR needs to act to achieve the desire outcome for both the company and the individual. Importantly, for whatever transpired, regular communication among HR, your direct superior and yourself is nessary.

Dear Ms. Bhargavi,
The process that goes with the confirmation after the probation is not the appraisal process. It should be called as "Confirmation of Services after the probation review" or "Probation Appraisal". Many companies use the word appraisal linked to performance for review of the salary and better position which all the employees expect that which is based on Knowledge of work, Productivity, Quality of work output, Quantity of work, Time Management, Supervisory Ability, Decision making ability, Communication Skills, General Behavior, Responsibilities taken and Adaptability etc. Perhaps, "Appraisal" always is a one word though used for corroboration of services or used annually.
Hope this is in anticipation of your above mentioned thread.

Thank you very much Bhargavi, Sharmila & Jane, for your comments.
I talked with my direct superior and he said that my performance is good and sent request for confirmation to HR department. But the "Responsible HR management" doesn't show any sign. Still the process is going on!! No appreciation or bad opinion from HR.
Hard to understand whether the organization really Like/Dislike my service.

Dear Singaporean,
Have patience !! In many organization, once HR receives a go ahead of confirmation of service from the immediate supervisor, the same is sent to the VP Head / Management with HR Remark. Basis this the further responsibilities & nature of work is decided which is to be disseminated to the concern (here it's you). The decision of management might take time in analyzing how, where & what is the optimum utilization of resource basis the concern's strength. So just wait till you receive the decision.

Dear Singaporean,
Do not dismay your thoughts and understand vibrantly the situation that HR had to truss on. Its not any single employee that Human Resource had to be indifferent about. Often in many cases HR has to be impeccable. Sometimes to expel facts the HR can just be a conductor and may not speak your mind.
I would definitely understand the wavelength of your ready situation but a good strategical appraoch had been already favoured you and will be through with the rest.
Good Luck!

Dear Mehta,
I just asking them(HR) an information regarding my offer. I know the process behind this. I do patience, still. But processing for more than 7 months is not a acceptable time scale. Isn't it?
I don't know how long should I wait to get a single reply mail.
