Even a small bud from incense stick (Joss stick/ Agarbatti) can lead to disaster.Pl. find a fatal accident sharing as received.And hope this should not occur at our sites.
A person met with an accident and was succumbed to death. On the day victim was engaged in transferring thinner from drum to a small container. After transfer, he has started mixing thinner to base material in a container. During the process, a bud from incense stick (Joss stick/ Agarbatti) which was fixed just above was dropped in to the thinner container and caused intense fire resulted in burn injuries to the victim. Immediately victim was shifted to hospital, after spending 3 weeks at hospital, victim was not able to recover and lost his life.
Learnings to avoid such incidents in future for current storage practices with regards to flammable materials :
1. Flammable materials should not be stored inside offices; it should be stored at designated location after taking adequate precautions.
2. Usage of match sticks / Incense stick / Joss stick, shouldn’t be allowed at
flammable material storage areas
3. Recommended to implement, effective display of MSDS / providing precautions (do’s & don’ts) in both English /local language at flammable storage areas

Even we can advise the Factories/stocking yard in charges to use Fire Resistance switches and electrical fittings in their storage yard and in the places the flammable materials stored.
